Paid directories obviously have a disadvantage over free ones, in that
you will have to part with your hard earned cash to get a listing within
them.
So what advantages can they offer?
Generally speaking, paid directories have less entries
per page, potentially allowing a higher proportion of page rank (PR)
to pass to your site.
Paying for submission means that your site should be reviewed
much quicker than with the free directories, often within 72 hours,
and in many cases in less than 24 hours.
Directories that take payments generally re-invest a proportion
of their profits into their business, meaning their own page rank will
increase over time and / or the number of visitors to the directory
will increase.
Often, paid directories have a more efficient approval
system, meaning only quality sites will be accepted. If you have a good
site you will get submitted quickly and know that there won't be any
undesirable domains on the same page as you.
