Reviews In this area of the site we will be reviewing a selection of the free, paid and niche directories from the lists we maintain. We aim to offer an unbiased and honest opinion of the directory, covering aspects such as design, ease of submission, value for money (if applicable) and overall benefit of making a submission. Taking all of these into account we will then rate the directory on a 1 - 10 scale, with 10 being the best rating. NicheListing - Free & Paid Listings - Rating: 8/10 January 27th 2006 Nichelisting is a directory aimed solely at webmastery type sites and general blogs. This should mean that the categories never get too full. With a page rank of 4 at the time of writing, and SEO friendly links, this directory offers a good opportunity to gain page rank for all sites listed within. Using the phplinksdirectory scripts means that this directory has a fairly basic look to it but its also clean and easy to navigate. The categories are well laid out and uncluttered. Submission is very simple and all are reviewed carefully before acceptance, ensuring a good level of quality control. Featured listings cost $5, all other submissions are free. Overall then, we would have to conclude that this one is well worth the submission time. Dirspace - Free & Paid Listings - Rating: 7/10 August 16th 2005 Dirspace is a well organised directory with 16 main categories and 5 featured ones. The subcategories are clearly named and are limited to 10 entries per page. With the number of advertisers the directory currently has, this means your link would be 1 of 14 external links on each page. This should prove to be quite beneficial in terms of passing page rank if that is what you are looking for. We found no redirects or sneaky tricks at this directory and so assume that it is completely SEO friendly. Design-wise, the directory is clean, simple and pleasant to the eye. The submission process is very straightforward, asking for URL, title, description, keywords and email address - this directory appears to be using an upgraded version of the biz directory script, making it an easy one to submit to. At the time of writing, free submissions are temporarily unavailable, paid listings are only $3 though. Having paid for inclusion ourselves we would conclude that it represents good value for money. |
